Try one of our level tests to assess your English skills!
Our Online English level tests are an excellent way to assess your overall English skills for free.
We have designed 2 level tests for adults and 2 tests for children.
The 1st test for adults focuses on General English and is suitable for all levels. The 2nd test focuses on Business English and is more suitable for students who have an intermediate or advanced level (B1 to C1+).
Our 1st test for children is very basic and for beginners and/or very young children (aged 4 to 7). The 2nd test is a bit more difficult and intended for children with a higher level of English (generally aged 6 to 10).
For children aged 10 or above (and depending on their level), we recommend doing our General English Test for Adults.
Two different evaluation guidelines – Two level tests in one
We have used two different grading systems to give students a better idea of their level. The first one is the CEFRL (Common European Framework of References for Languages), a widely accepted guideline to assess language skills used across Europe and also, increasingly, throughout the world. The 3 main categories of the CEFRL grading system are the following:
Basic user (A), independent user (B) and proficient user (C)
Then there are 3 subcategories:
Beginner (A1), Elementary (A2), Intermediate (B1), Upper-Intermediate (B2), Advanced (C1) and Proficiency (C2)
We have also designed our own grading system which we use internally for all of our students and which goes from 1 to 10. If you complete one of our tests, you will not only receive a CEFRL evaluation, but you will also get a second score that tells us where you would fit in our program.
Our level tests for adults are very complete. They include the following categories that correspond to various activities that we teach in our General or Business English classes online:
Grammar & Vocabulary, Tenses, Conditionals, Passives, Interrogatives, Reading & Listening Comprehension.
Each test has 50 questions so as to be sure to make a more in-depth and accurate evaluation of each student.
We hope you’ll enjoy them!
